Chippewa County International Airport in Kincheloe will receive just under $1.5 million dollars in grant money for improvements. The United States Department of Transportation awarded the grant that will be used to repair runways and taxiways, including repainting markers. According to Tami Beseau, airport manager, in 2022, there were 48,000 passengers that used commercial service, which is only 1,000 less than their best year (2019). Another 2,500 passengers from private aircraft also used the airport.
